Title: Tsheringma

Year: 2020
Dimension: 150×150 cm
Medium: Acrylic

I had done this painting of the Goddess of Longevity known as Tsheringma after having the fortune of beholding it at the magnificent temples of the five sisters respectively. It is said they flew in from Tibet and became guardian deities of the Dharma. Each sister is represented by an animal; the doe, the dragon, the horse and the tiger. I was more drawn to the longevity deity, the one depicted in my painting riding a snow lion which portrays power and strength, fearlessness and joy. Painted in a shade of gold, the metal element which signifies endurance and persistence through eons of time, she glows in its aura. Each stroke, for me, is a manifestation of my admiration to femininity, the protection and heavenly emanation she exhibits and my reverence to the sacred goddess.
