Title: Wave of Paradox

Plastic, a material derived from our own human ingenuity, has become an emblem of our modern age. Its ubiquity is astonishing, as it infiltrates every corner of our lives and shapes our behaviors in unforeseen ways. Yet, it is also a material fraught with ecological consequences, polluting our oceans and endangering marine life. By employing plastic as my medium, I intend to confront viewers with the paradox of its beauty and destructiveness, provoking introspection and inspiring action. I explore in the multifaceted relationship between the pervasive material of plastic and its profound impact on our environment and human behavior. Through the medium of plastic, I aim to create a visually arresting representation of the sea, a space both familiar and mysterious, mirroring the depths of our collective consciousness.

The plastic sea that emerges from my creative process is a surreal manifestation of our collective actions, evoking a sense of awe and uneasiness. This material is stretched to create a textured surface that mimics the appearance of stretch marks on the skin. The intention behind this representation is to draw a parallel between the stretch marks that form on our bodies and the scars that plastic pollution leaves on the Earth. As viewers immerse themselves in the plastic sea, they are confronted with their own reflections, both literal and metaphorical. The waves of plastic invite contemplation of our individual and collective impact on the environment. The stretchmarks within the material serves as a metaphor the lasting impact of our plastic consumption and the complexity of human behavior, revealing the interconnections between our choices and the world we inhabit.
Ultimately, my art aims to stimulate a dialogue and reflection for a better understanding of the complex relationship between art, beauty, and environmental degradation. Through self- observation and empathy, we can strive to reshape our behaviors, allowing us to navigate towards a more harmonious coexistence with nature and each other. In this reflection of the plastic sea, may we find the catalyst for transformation and the inspiration to tread lightly upon the fragile ecosystem we call home.
